The question might not be of abilities, but of whether you have what it takes to be who you say you want to be.

If we rank all the elements one must possess in order to achieve greatness, starting with the quality that is most readily available and work down to that which is least available, the list would look something like this:

Talent
Passion
Persistence
Solid grasp of marketing and business
An enthusiastic application of all the above

And the last thing, the hardest quality to grasp, being ready to be who you say you want to be.

You say you wanna be a Rock Star. Okay. You’ve got talent, you’ve got tremendous amount of passion, you’ve persisted through thick and thin, you packaged the work the right way and now people are taking notice.

There is a crowd out there waiting for you. They are cheering your name. They believe you are the next Pollack, Springsteen, Zuckerberg. Do you have what it takes to be who they say you are? The spotlight you’ve worked so hard for is on, the stage is set, and the crowd is eager and waiting. Can you walk out there and be who they need you to be?

No one ever really asks this question because we get stuck wondering whether we are talented enough, passionate enough, business savvy enough. We don’t ever stop to think what would happen if we are offered the coveted limelight. Can we stand up to it? Will you be ready? We assume that we will be ready when we get on stage. Any good actor will tell you that they are already the character they need to be before they step on stage.

Do you have what it takes to be who you say you want to be?

I am ready. Are you?
