Things Will Be Fine, by Charlie Grosso

This is a strange new territory. I’ve been writing but unable to post. I’ve been actively pitching publication and major sites and awkward side effect is I have to hold back a lot of what I’ve been writing. Everyone wants something new. Which means I spend a lot of time writing, re-writing and of course procrastinating before I get to the writing. When you are prepping a piece to pitch to The New York Times Magazine, you are a lot worried.

I would never want to burden you with second hand stories and less than the best. Which is why I’ve not been posting. I’m sorry!

There are stories and they will be coming soon. In the mean time, I want to talk about a journey of a different sort, please indulge me.

I’ve come to the end of a major chapter in my life and am starting another. This is that audacious declaration to the world of my intent, for you to hold me accountable, the whisper of an incantation to breathe magic into what’s next.

The Books. I’m working on two different books and they will be best sellers. Gabriel Garcia Marquez said “If you are going to be a writer, you better be the greatest. There are plenty of other ways to starve to death!” He’s right. If I am going to head down this incredibly difficult path, why would I want them to be anything but the best?

New Projects. Wok The Dog is complete. I’ve invested over 18 years of my creative efforts in this documentary. I love it still and it is one of the books I’m working on. In the mean time, there are two new projects I’m working on: Women in Conflict, about women involved in political conflicts and their stories, and Every Kingdom, an investigation on the changing role of native cultures and their roles as stewards of the land. Both projects will be a combination of photography, video and creative non-fiction stories.

Home. I’m working towards buying a home, a beautiful brownstone in NYC or Brooklyn. I’m not quitting this nomadic life. I am in love with the road more than ever and I will still spend much time on the road. I’m putting down roots so I can reach even further. To do that in a city I’m in love with, to deepen and connect in a new way, yeah! I’m working toward that.

A Film. I’m going to make a film. First I’m going to write a screenplay and then I’m going to make a film. There are ideas. There are always ideas!

Finance. This year I’m going to double the gross income of my best year to date.

Love & Partnership. I’m going to meet my mate, my twin, my partner. I’m ready.

Collaboration. I work with smart, passionate, creative people and I’m continuing to collaborate with more and more like-minded creative, constantly widening the circle.
