I am sure that you are tired of hearing the word “NO.” I am certain that you have a pile of rejection letters as tall as mine. (One day I promise that I will make a giant papier-mache sculpture out of the letters, spelling out YES.) But what if all of this is just a numbers game? What if everyone of us has a certain number that we are supposed to hit, and then the NOs will all of sudden becomes YES! (of course this assumes that your work is good and worth while, because lets face it, there are plenty of bad art out there, in all fields.)
Of course I am not saying that all NOs will become YESs and even when you do get YESs there will still be plenty of NOs. But what if you just have to hold out, believe, and have the sheer human stubbornness to keep on showing up. What if that is all it requires of you?
If you pay me a dollar I will tell you what your magic number is! (Just kidding, my powers of foreseeing the future is not that well developed!) Hang in there, just around the bend, magnificence awaits!
Don’t let your ambition be determined by rejection.
